Volunteering and charities
Volunteering is a great way to get involved, learn new skills and make a difference. We will tell you about volunteering opportunities you might enjoy. There are lots of charities and organisations you could volunteer with.
Getting involved with charities
If you are interested in charities, we can help you get involved with different organisations – including charities that support care leavers.
- The Care Leavers Association – This is a national charity led by care leavers. It works to improve the lives of care leavers of all ages and helps care leavers support each other by sharing their experiences.
- Citizen’s Advice – Citizens Advice offers free help and advice about:
- money and debt
- benefits
- work
- housing
- the law and your rights
- healthcare and education
National opportunities for care leavers
We can also help you get involved with national organisations such as:
- National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum (NLCBF)
- Young People’s Benchmarking Forum (YPBMF)
These groups give young care leavers the chance to share their views, learn new skills and help improve services.
If you are interested in taking part, you can find out more about the National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum and the Young People’s Benchmarking Forum on their website.
