Education, employment and training support

Support for care leavers with education, training and work, including careers advice, travel help and work experience

About

We want to make sure that every young person leaving care gets the support they need to reach their goals in life. We will support you to do well in education, training and work. We will always check in with you to see how you are doing, and we will celebrate your achievements with you.

We can help you to:

  • get support with education, training and work, so you can build confidence and experience
  • get careers advice, including help with your CV and tips for job interviews, such as what to wear
  • pay for travel to school, college, training, apprenticeships or job interviews
  • buy things you need for learning or work, like tools, equipment, books or essential clothing
  • think about and plan your goals
  • visit colleges or training providers to see what they offer
  • meet college staff before you make decisions
  • make links with employers
  • try short “taster” sessions or work experience
  • understand how the Department for Work and Pensions can help with work experience, jobs and benefits

We are here to support you every step of the way.

Celebrating your achievements

We will always check in with you to see how you are doing, and we will help you celebrate your achievements.

We believe it is important to recognise everyone’s successes. When young people do well in education, training or work, we may invite you to attend or help organise celebration events to mark these achievements.

Your hard work matters, and we want to celebrate it with you.
