Advocacy support
Route1 Advocacy provides advice and support to young people who are in care or leaving care in Somerset.
Your voice, your rights, advice, support, solutions, alongside you.
What is advocacy? An advocate is your voice but louder!
Advocates are:
- Independent
- Always there to listen
Advocates can:
- Attend meetings with you
- Contact people for you
- Help you know your rights
- Visit you to get your views
- Give advice
- Help you find solutions and get answers
Advocates can help you with things like:
- Meetings
- School or college
- Home or placement
- Understanding
- Leaving care
- Knowing what to say
Need an advocate?
We are available to help you talk about your issues. You can contact us or ask somebody else to. We will listen carefully to you and help you make sure that people who make decisions about your life are listening to what you have to say.

Catch 22
We will link you with organisations like Catch22. They support young care leavers and helps improve life chances, such as building confidence, skills and independence.
NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service)
NYAS is a national advocacy service that provides free advocacy for care leavers.
They also run:
- a Children’s Legal Centre
- a Legal Centre for Migrant Children
These services offer extra support if you need legal advice or help understanding your rights.
